stfuconfederates: Are we doomed to be racist? I’d say that a prominent aspect of white privilege is being able to ask that question. Because it ain’t about our redemption, yet that seems to be all we can focus on. It’s pretty much the epitome of privileged to be able to say ‘we’ll always be called racist, we’re fucked’. Ain’t about us not being called racist, it’s about us BEING racist, and actively working to counter racism isn’t redemption. We don’t get redeemed. Ever. The white people are doing just fine. We’re not fucked. I can prove it, by showing you how many people react to racism by asking how the oppressor can be redeemed instead of asking how the oppressed can be assisted in basic survival. Every damn day around here.
